KINDERGARTEN METHODOLOGY
 

The methodology used by the kindergarten department strongly relies on modeling. Kang Ning feels it is an important part of a teacher’s job to model such things as proper language use and proper behavior.  Students spend long periods of time with their kindergarten teachers and teachers must be constantly aware of their actions, use of language and manners.  By using this method students will develop good habits, manners and language skills quickly and effectively.

Kang Ning also feels that building a child’s confidence is an important part of teaching.  If a child is confident in their abilities they will participate more, be more eager to learn and have more fun in the classroom.  A confident child stems from teacher praise, and rewarding children when they have worked hard and done well.  Challenging them and letting them know you also have confidence in them is an effective way to promote self-confidence.  These children, like any other, need to know when they have done well and that you are proud of them.

It is also essential at Kang Ning for the children to have fun while they are learning.  Energetic lessons, fun games and activities are a big part of teaching ESL kindergarten.  A fun activity will allow children to forget they are learning and immerse themselves in the lesson.  Many resources are available at Kang Ning to give teachers ideas and teachers are encouraged to share theirs with others. The kindergarten staff is helpful and always willing to share experiences.  It is important for Kang Ning to make school a positive and fun environment for their kindergarten students as well as their teachers.
