“ Kang Ning is an established
school, which has flourished for the past 18
years. It is very well structured and run. The building
and classrooms are beautiful and everything that one
requires to teach effectively is available. Resources,
books, aids are all available for the teacher’s use. A
well laid out syllabi is in place, making it easy for
the teacher to see what material needs to be covered
over a set period. T.A staff are super and very helpful,
and assist the teacher enormously. Classes are not big
and the children are keen to learn and their English is
of a high standard. Each class is divided into a
reading, writing and speaking component. Many western
teachers are teaching at Kang Ning and this provides a
comforting environment. As far as living in Taiwan is
concerned, I have succeeded in fitting in relatively
easily, although when one first arrives, the sheer force
of numbers and confined spaces took a bit of getting
used to. I have found the Taiwanese people to be
friendly, helpful and always keen to assist one.
Provided that one comes to Taiwan with the notion that
you are a visitor here and things will be different to
back home, it won’t be long before you are happily
settled, working, living and liking Taiwan. GOOD LUCK!”

“Kang Ning English School has been one of
the more positive experiences in my life. I came out of
University eager to gain experience and put some of my
skills to work and Kang Ning has provided me with this
opportunity. Kang Ning is one of the better schools in
Taiwan and one of the best in Hsinchu County. Many of
the language schools on this island are not concerned
with the level of quality in their students and staff
but this is not true for Kang Ning. Teachers can take
pride in the fact that they are providing a real
opportunity for children to learn in a great environment
and are not just a foreign face. This school is for
real and teachers will get out of it as much as they put
in. Teaching at Kang Ning is both challenging and
rewarding. All of the staff are great and my
interpersonal communication skills have flourished
because of the wonderful people I work with. I have
made some really great friendships here and this has
made my experience a far better one.”

“I am relatively new to the Taiwan
teaching experience, but I have been having a great time
so far. The people here are really friendly (apparently
much more so than Korea and Japan), the weather is good
and Kangning has been really helpful in getting me
settled in Chutung.
The only major adjustment I had to
deal with was not being able to communicate with 99.9%
of the local population. The obvious remedy for this
would be to learn Chinese, which is difficult but not
impossible.
If you’re looking for a trendy and
happening city then you should probably try Taipei, but
Chutung has its advantages: there are fewer
distractions, less traffic and the mountains are only a
stones throw away. Hsinchu and Taipei are also close
enough to allow you to indulge yourself in more exciting
adventures when the quiet life gets too much.”
Andrew Teggin (South Africa)
“ Spending the past year
working at Kang Ning and living in Taiwan has been
unforgettable. I have met so many people and have
learned numerous lessons about myself and the world
around me. I have enjoyed my work here at Kang Ning and
have found it to be incredibly rewarding. The staff is
helpful, supportive and friendly, which makes for a
comfortable working environment. The people outside of
work are equally friendly. The Taiwanese people are
welcoming and extremely helpful. This country has shown
me adventure, culture, amazing hospitality and I
recommend this journey to anyone…it’s a once in a
lifetime experience.”
